Have you been posting on Instagram but struggle to see a real impact on your revenue?
Trust me: so many people come to me and say, “Lucy, I post multiple times a week and I still haven’t been able to convert anyone into a paying customer on Instagram! Am I just wasting my time? Is there a real use for this platform?”
If this is how you’re feeling right now, I have great news! In today’s blog, I’m going to show you five strategies to get anyone to know, like, and trust you (the 3 key ingredients to get people to do business with you) on social media. Be sure to stick around, because at the end of this blog, I’m giving you my e-book 10 tips to turn followers into customers, which offers a ton of value, and I know you’re going to love it!
But before you get to that e-book, let’s dive into these 5 strategies!
Step 1. Offer Value:
If you’ve read my previous blogs, you know how much I preach about value-added marketing. Offering your followers and target audience real value in exchange for nothing will immediately create a feeling of goodwill and trust with them. Helping people with no expectations of anything in return allows you to show off your expertise, gain their trust, and establish your authority.
Step 2. Be Consistent:
Showing up is half the battle. If you’re only posting a few times a month, people will forget about you. You don’t expect to earn a paycheck when you only show up to work 3 days a week, right? The same is true for Instagram! Consistency is everything on this platform. If you’re struggling with how to schedule out your content in advance (so that you don’t have to think of something to post daily) you should check out my YouTube video: How to plan a week of content in 30 minutes. We all have 30 minutes, and it’s so important to plan your content because it will ensure that you’re showing up for your audience.
Step 3. Be Personable:
People buy from people they like or feel they have similarities with. They’ll buy from people they admire. So many entrepreneurs just use social media to display what it is they do for work, but they never take the time to let their followers see who they really are! Allowing people to get to know who you are outside of your job creates connection, and also gives people another reason to do business with you. Example: Let’s say you were talking to a financial advisor, and they have all the things you’re looking for, but they’re really dry and closed off. You would maybe consider hiring them; but let’s say you then meet a different financial advisor who has all the same expertise and the same exact offer, but instead of being so closed off, they are personable and friendly! Who do you think you would hire at the end of the day? Of course, you would hire the second person!
By the way…
Instagram Stories are a great way to connect with your followers on another level. Show your life behind the scenes! It will open up an avenue for communication and getting to know other people relationally.
Step 4. Be Social:
This seems obvious, but so many people forget that it is vitally important to your business for you to respond to all comments in order to connect with your audience. Start a conversation, ask questions, reply to your audience’s polls or IG stories… utilize every single opportunity to get to know your target market. Also, remember that even if someone doesn’t need exactly what you have to offer, by building that relationship, you can feel confident that they will recommend you to someone who does need your product or service!
Step 5. Use a Hook:
You have to consider this when you write your captions: what you say in the first sentence of your IG post is what will determine if people get to your Call to Action or not. Make it interesting enough that they want to stop scrolling! So how do you do this?
-
- Share something juicy! Let them in on a secret, or something you’re embarrassed about. You could even try saying, “I’ve never told anyone this…”
- Ask Questions!
- Did you know…?
- Are you type A, B or C? Tell me below…
